About

Welcome to Cook Books & Ceilithe!

After spending the past two years with nose to the book while going to school and working full-time, I thought it was time to focus on two of my favorite things to do to relax, cooking and entertaining.  This blog is a way to share my experiences.  I hope you enjoy it.

A few words about the name … over the past several years, I’ve acculumlated a LOT of cook books, but like many people often find myself going online for inspirations.  As part of this blog, I’ve challenged myself to make something each week using a cook book.  It will take more than a year to get through this challenge if I stay on track.  Ceilithe comes from my love of entertaining.  A few years ago, I was on Cape Breton Island in Nova Scotia and saw signs all over the place for a Ceilidh.  When we asked, it was described as “food, drink, music, and stories … a kitchen party.”  The true definition according to wikipedia is a bit different, but close enough and I chose to to use the Irish spelling versus the Scottish.

A note on the photos for the header … at the present time these are pictures taken over the years of memorable food places and experiences.  Gradually, they will be replaced by more current pictures.  Special thanks to my good friend Kathy Bosin for taking several of these photos.

I love this blog. It is fun to read. The recipes are enticing, and the pictures help (and are appealing to see). The first-hand tips and blogger’s comments add sincerity and helpful insights!! With its step by step pointers and end result pix, this blog takes the “fear factor” out of trying new recipes!!
