A New Saturday Routine

I believe I have established a new routine for Saturday mornings, and I have to say I like it.  For the past (almost) two years, my Saturday routine has been one of two things:

Routine 1: Class

Wake up around 5:30, leave for school around 7, come home between 4:30 and 5.  Crash for about an hour, then clean the house or other mindless household tasks.

Routine 2: No Class

Wake up around 5:30, clean like crazy, maybe walk Pippi.  Finish with the cleaning and start every errand imaginable – groceries, vet, Jiffy Lube, Target, dry cleaner, etc.  Finish up mid-afternoon, do laundry and yard work.  Crash.

Now, though, that I am not in school, Saturdays offer so many more possibilities.  As much as I wish I had the personality that would allow me to lie on the couch all day, I don’t, so they are still active, but at a much different pace, and with very different activities.  The last few Saturdays have had a nice rhythm.  Wake up around 5:30, lounge a bit, take Pippi on a nice long walk, stopping for a coffee, then home. At that point, I head to Soulard Farmer’s Market where I can browse before the crowds are too thick and, recently, when it is a cool 87 outside instead of 98.  Then home to put away the bounty, make a nice breakfast, then embark upon errands, yard work, and cleaning.

I’m still working on a new Sunday routine.  For the past two years, Sundays have been spent doing homework or work-work all day.  So, now, I need to figure out how best to spend my extra time on Sunday.  What a nice problem to have!

About cookbooksandceilithe

For the past two years, I've been working more than full-time while getting my MBA. Now, that graduation has come and gone, I want to indulge in two of passions - cooking and entertaining.
